“In Lauren Jankowski’s Shape Shifter Chronicles, recent college grad Isis lives a normal life in a normal world, working as a photojournalist in a small city where practically nothing happens. One night, she photographs the scene of a gruesome murder. A woman is found dead in an abandoned factory. On the wall there is a strange symbol painted in blood. Isis photographs the scene. The next day, all evidence of the crime has vanished from her pictures and no one seems to have heard of any murder taking place.

As Isis proceeds to investigate, she’s drawn into the world of shape shifters and guardians. Secrets and mysteries are commonplace in this strange world. And as Isis finds answers about her own mysterious past, she also finds more questions. What is happening to the people that vanish without a trace? Who is watching her from the shadows? And what exactly is the key that everyone seems willing to kill for?”

When she starts hearing his voice in her head, she wonders if her world of backstabbing artists and pressure for perfection is driving her insane. Then, she discovers that her visions of him are real—by way of telepathy—and soon finds herself lost in the kind of impossible love she depicts in her music.

But even as their bond deepens, Iris realizes that he’s hiding something from her—and it’s dangerous. Her quest for answers leads her past her sheltered world to a strange planet lightyears away, where she uncovers secrets about Earth’s alien allies that shatter everything she knows.”

Cover Reveal for “A Midsummer Night’s Dudebro”

Hello, everyone! Today we have yet another cover reveal, but this time it’s for my own book! I know you all have already seen the e-book cover for A Midsummer Night’s Dudebro, but here is the cover of the paperback bind-up of the first two “Dudebro” stories: The Taming of the Dudebro and A Midsummer Night’s Dudebro.

Title: The Taming of the Dudebro, volume 1

Author: Jane Watson

Release Date: April 18th, 2017

Publisher: Snowy Wings Publishing

Cover Designed by: Key of Heart Designs

“In The Taming of the Dudebro, Patricia’s dream is coming true: she is directing her own play, a one-act written by her best friend, Grizz, for the school’s annual Drama Festival. Everything seems to be perfect until her teacher assigns Kurt Minola, the biggest jerk in the school, to work on her play. Kurt is lazy, selfish and irresponsible. The only good thing about him is his attractive twin brother, Ben—but even he can’t seem to change Kurt’s attitude. Kurt’s presence turns Patricia’s dream into a nightmare… until Patricia and Grizz decide to take matters into their own hands, and subject this insufferable surfer-dude to some taming.

Then, in A Midsummer Night’s Dudebro, with the theater festival behind her and graduation around the corner, Grizz Sheridan figured she was done with Kurt Minola. She wants to focus on spending time with her friends and enjoying her last summer before she goes off to college. No such luck now that Kurt’s crushing on her best friend (and his twin brother’s girlfriend), Patricia. It seems like he’s glued to her side no matter where she goes—class, parties, even Prom.

Grizz thinks her luck is changing when she begins working at Merry Mule Coffee Roasters and meets super hottie, Dimitri. That is, until a certain surfer boy starts working there, too—and suddenly seems to have turned his romantic interests elsewhere…”

Isn’t it gorgeous? I am in love with the surfing theme, and Kona is on the cover! Who is Kona? Find out in A Midsummer Night’s Dudebro, coming out on April 18th from Snowy Wings Publishing!

Peanut Blossom Cookie Recipe

Hey, everyone!

Today I will be sharing with you one of my absolutely favorite holiday cookies. I have to make these every year, usually more than once. They are “Peanut Blossoms,” but I’ve also heard them called “Peanut Butter Stars,” because there are some places where you can buy chocolate candies in the shape of stars. Alas, alack, I have never found these treasured chocolates, but Hershey’s Kisses work just as well.

Don't they look delicious? Let's get started!

Don’t they look delicious? Let’s get started!

You will need:

  • ½ Cup butter, softened
  • ½ Cup peanut butter
  • ½ Cup brown sugar
  • ½ Cup white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 ¾ Cup flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 bag of chocolate stars or Hershey’s kisses

Preheat the oven  350 degrees Fahrenheit. Cream together the butter and brown and white sugar. Add in the egg, vanilla, salt, and baking soda and mix well. Stir in the peanut butter, and then finally the flour.

Roll the dough into small balls, and then roll them in sugar. Place them on a cookie sheet and press your thumb  slightly into each ball to give it an indent. Put the dough into the oven for about six minutes (this will depend on how quickly your oven bakes things). Then place a chocolate kiss in the indentation of each cookie and bake for two minutes more. Adjust as necessary until golden brown.

Enjoy!

~Jane

Update on A Midsummer Night’s Dudebro

Well, everyone, you know how I kept talking about “A Midsummer Night’s Dudebro” and how it was going to be a novella and out over the summer? As you can tell, it’s not out yet, and that’s because it morphed into a full-length novel! The antics of Kurt, Grizz, Patricia, and the rest of the gang could not be contained to a mere 30,000 words. The Dudebro series is no longer a “novella” series, but will have full length novels interspersed with shorts throughout. This is very exciting for me, as I love these characters and where their stories are going.

I decided to wait to release it until a warmer month so as to get people in the summer mood. It will be coming out in April 2017. I have another exciting announcement to make: “A Midsummer Night’s Duebro” and the rest of the “Dudebro” series are going to be released with Snowy Wings Publishing!  I am so excited to be working with them.

That’s all for now!

~Jane
